Pavamana Suktam In English
Pavmana Suktam is a major sukta in the Rigveda, Samaveda and Yajurveda, composed in praise of the god Soma. This Sukta occupies a particularly important place in the Vedas as it reveals the purification of Soma Rasa and its importance. Pavmana means ‘purifier’ or ‘purifier’, and this sukta describes the process of purifying Soma.
Pavamana Suktam Importance
The main purpose of Pavman Sukta is to purify the soul and body through Soma Rasa. In the Vedic age, Soma rasa was considered a divine drink, which energizes the body as well as purifies the mind and soul. In this sukta, Soma is compared to the flow of a river, light and nectar.

Pavman Sukta is recited specially in Yagnas. During the Soma Yagya, when the Soma juice is squeezed and strained, this sukta is recited. It is considered important to maintain the sanctity of the yajna and satisfy the deities.
