Vishnu Suktam

Vishnu Suktam (Vishnu Suktam In English) is a major sukta located in the seventh chapter of the Rigveda. This sukta describes the attributes of Lord Vishnu, his power, his omnipresence and his devotion. In the Vishnu Suktam, Vishnu is depicted as the sustainer of creation, the all-pervasive and the benefactor of the people. Its recitation is considered very auspicious and auspicious for Vedantists and devotees.

Characteristics of Vishnu Suktam

Vishnu Suktam mainly praises Lord Vishnu in his “Trivikram” form. Trivikram means those who establish their glory in three worlds. It mentions his three holy positions (tripada), which are as follows:

  1. physical world (earth)
  2. Madhya Lok (sky)
  3. Divya Lok (Heaven)

Vishnu is also described in the Vedas as “Urugaya” (one who expands) and “Urukram” (one who takes huge strides).

Vishnu Suktam Importance

  1. Source of spiritual strength: Recitation of this sukkah provides spiritual peace and inner strength.
  2. Balance of creation: Vishnu is considered the sustainer. His scriptures help to maintain balance in life.
  3. Glory of the Trivikram form: The Trivikram form of Vishnu describes his universal form and devotion.

Usage of Vishnu Suktam

Vishnu Suktam is specially recited during worship and fasts of Lord Vishnu. Reading it in the evening is considered very fruitful. It not only solves material problems, but also gives purity and peace to the soul.
