Tripura Sundari Ashtakam In English
Tripura Sundari Ashtakam is a devotional hymn dedicated to Goddess Tripura Sundari, one of the ten Mahavidyas in Hinduism. She is considered the supreme goddess of beauty, wisdom, and divine power. The name “Tripura Sundari” means “The Most Beautiful Goddess of the Three Worlds.” This Ashtakam, a Sanskrit composition of eight verses, glorifies her divine attributes and seeks her blessings for spiritual growth, material prosperity, and liberation (moksha).
Meaning of Tripura Sundari
The goddess is called Tripura Sundari because:
- Tripura – She rules over the three worlds (physical, mental, and spiritual).
- Sundari – She is the embodiment of supreme beauty.
She is also known as Shodashi, meaning “the sixteen-year-old one,” symbolizing her eternal youth and divine charm. She is often depicted sitting on a lotus, with four arms holding a bow, arrows, a noose, and a goad.
