Rigveda Sandhyavandanam

Sandhyavandanam is a daily Vedic ritual performed by followers of the Vedas, especially those who have undergone the Upanayana (sacred thread ceremony). dhī̠mahi satyātmanē kavachāya hum ।

muktā vidruma hēmanīla dhavaḻachChāyairmukhaistrīkṣaṇaiḥ
yuktāmindu nibaddha ratnamakuṭā-ntattvārtha varṇātmikām ।
gāyatrīṃ varadābhayāṅkuśa kaśāśśubhraṅkapāla-ṅgadāṃ
śaṅkha-ñchakramathāravindayugaḻaṃ hastairvahantī-mbhajē ॥

dhyēyassadā savitṛmaṇḍalamadhyavartī
nārāyaṇassarasijāsana sanniviṣṭaḥ ।
kēyūravā-nmakarakuṇḍalavān kirīṭī
hārī hiraṇmaya vapurdhṛtaśaṅkhachakraḥ ॥

mudrāpradar​śanam
sumukhaṃ sampuṭa-ñchaiva vitataṃ vistṛta-ntathā ।
dvimukha-ntrimukha-ñchaiva chatuḥ pañchamukha-ntathā ।
ṣaṇmukhō-‘dhōmukha-ñchaiva vyāpikāñjalika-ntathā ।
śakaṭaṃ yamapāśa-ñcha grathitaṃ sammukhōnmukham ।
pralamba-mmuṣṭika-ñchaiva matsyaḥ kūrmō varāhakam ।
siṃhākrānta-mmahākrānta-mmudgara-mpallava-ntathā ।
chaturviṃśati mudrā vai gāyatryāṃ supratiṣṭhitāḥ ।
iti mudrā na jānāti gāyatrī niṣphalābhavēt ।

jātavēdasētyasya mantrasya kaśyapa ṛṣiḥ । durgājātavēdāgnirdēvatā । triṣṭu-pChandaḥ । sūryōpasthānē viniyōgaḥ ।
ō-ñjā̠tavē̎dasē sunavāma̠ sōma̍marātīya̠tō nida̍hāti̠ vēda̍ḥ ।
sa na̍ḥ par​ṣa̠dati̍ du̠rgāṇi̠ viśvā̎ nā̠vēva̠ sindhu̎-nduri̠tā-‘tya̠gniḥ ॥

tryambakamiti mantrasya । maitrā varuṇirvasiṣṭha ṛṣiḥ । rudrō dēvatā । anuṣṭu-pChandaḥ । upasthānē viniyōgaḥ ।
ō-ntrya̍mbakaṃ yajāmahē su̠gandhi̍-mpuṣṭi̠vardha̍nam ।
u̠rvā̠ru̠kami̍va̠ bandha̍nānmṛ̠tyōrmṛ̍kṣīya̠ mā-‘mṛtā̍t ।

gā̠tuṃ ya̠jña̍patayē । daivī̎-ssva̠stira̍stu naḥ ।

namō brahmaṇē ityasya mantrasya prajāpati ṛṣiḥ viśvēdēvāḥ dēvatā । jagatī-śChandaḥ pradakṣiṇē viniyōgaḥ ।

brahmaṇyō dēvakīputrō brahmaṇyō madhusūdanaḥ ।
brahmaṇyaḥ puṇḍarīkākṣō brahmaṇyō viṣṇurachyutaḥ ॥
namō brahmaṇyadēvāya gōbrāhmaṇahitāya cha ।
jagaddhitāya kṛṣṇāya gōvindāya namō namaḥ ॥
kṣīrēṇa snāpitē dēvī chandanēna vilēpitē ।
bilvapatrārchitē dēvī durgē-‘haṃ śaraṇa-ṅgataḥ ॥

gāyatrī prasthāna prārthanā
u̠ttamē̍ śikha̍rē jā̠tē̠ bhū̠myā-mpa̍rvata̠ mūrdha̍ni ।

nārāyaṇa namaskṛti
namō-‘stvanantāya sahasra mūrtayē
sahasra pādākṣi śirōru bāhavē ।
sahasranāmnē puruṣāya śāśvatē
sahasra kōṭī yugadhāriṇē namaḥ ॥

bhūmyākāśābhivandanam
i̠da-ndyā̍vā pṛthi̠vī sa̠tyama̍stu ।
pita̠rmāta̠ryadi̠hōpa̍bruvē vā̍m ।
bhū̠ta-ndē̠vānā̍mava̠mē avō̍bhiḥ ।
vidyāmē̠ṣaṃ vṛ̠ji̍na-ñjī̠radā̍num ।

ākāśātpatita-ntōyaṃ yathā gachChati sāgaram ।
sarvadēva namaskāraḥ kēśava-mpratigachChati ॥

sarvavēdēṣu yatpuṇyaṃ sarvatīrthēṣu yatphalam ।
tatphalaṃ samavāpnōti stutvā dēva-ñjanārdanam ॥
vāsanādvāsudēvasya vāsita-ntē jagattrayam ।
sarvabhūta nivāsō-‘si vāsudēva namō-‘stu tē ॥

abhivādanam
chatussāgara paryanta-ṅgōbrāhmaṇēbhya-śśubha-mbhavatu ॥
…… pravarānvita …… sa gōtraḥ āśvalāyanasūtraḥ ṛk śākhādhyāyī …….. śarmā-‘ha-mbhō abhivādayē ॥

āchamya ॥

samarpaṇam
yasya smṛtyācha nāmōktyā tapa-ssandhyā kriyādiṣu ।
nyūnaṃ sampūrṇatāṃ yāti sadyōvandē tamachyutam ॥
mantrahīna-ṅkriyāhīna-mbhaktihīnaṃ ramāpatē ।
yatkṛta-ntu mayādēva paripūrṇa-ntadastu tē ॥

anēna prātaḥ/mādhyāhnika/sāyaṃ sandhyāvandanēna bhagavān sarvātmaka-śśrī lakṣmīnārāyaṇaḥ prīyatām । suprītō varadō bhavatu ।

ābrahmalōkādāśēṣādālōkālōka parvatāt ।
yē santi brāhaṇā dēvāstēbhyō nitya-nnamō namaḥ ॥
kāyēna vāchā manasēndriyairvā
buddhyātmanā vā prakṛtē-ssvabhāvāt ।
karōmi yadyatsakala-mparasmai
nārāyaṇāyēti samarpayāmi ॥

sarvaṃ śrīmannārāyaṇārpaṇamastu ॥
